5 Review: Sate Bawah Pohon – Jl. Dewi Sri I, Badung, Bali Disclaimer: Non-Halal Food One of the most legendary pork satay spots in Bali, Sate Bawah Pohon, has finally moved from its old location at the Trisakti Kuta parking lot to a more proper and comfortable place on Jl. Dewi Sri IV Badung. The new location feels completely different – way better! Spacious parking, large dining area – overall a big upgrade. Now you can enjoy your food without worrying about the rain or heat. They now use a pay-first system at the counter, and the menu has expanded a lot compared to the old stall days. Some of the highlights include: Pork Fried Rice Betutu Chicken Rice Sweet Soy Pork Crispy Pork Rice Sam-Sam Guling Rice Babi Guling Rice Sate Lilit …and more! The dining area is very roomy with plenty of basic wooden tables and benches, enough to fit lots of customers. As for the pork satay? Still tastes as good as ever – sweet, tender, and slightly savory. Their babi guling rice is okay – nothing special, but decent. Service is quite fast and friendly, but be warned: avoid peak meal times or you’ll be waiting in a long queue. Sate Babi Bawah Pohon is definitely a must-try culinary spot for pork lovers visiting Bali. Highly recommended!
5 Tried Sate Babi Bawah Pohon — a famous local spot known for its delicious pork satay in Bali. We ordered: • Sate Babi (8 skewers + rice) – Rp30.000 • Sate Babi (8 skewers + tipat / rice cake / lontong) – Rp30.000 • Nasi Babi Guling – Rp35.000 (tasty and a bit spicy) The pork satay was flavorful and tender, served fresh from the grill. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly. Parking: Available on-site (Rp2.000 for motorbike / Rp5.000 for car) Definitely worth trying if you’re in Bali!
5 THE BEST BABI MEAL EVER even the vacuum menu was still taste good after a week in freezer. Also the prices were very CHEAP!! Highly recommended for pork lovers And also additional for the staffs! They're so nice and helpful. Even when i skipped one food due to error, they're still serving it very fast
4 Had a lunch here during peak season. The food has decent taste, but we have to remind the staff about a few orders of ours.. took pretty long time for the side dishes.
4 First time trying Sate Babi Bawah Pohon in Badung — a legendary spot for pork lovers in Bali! We ordered the Nasi Babi Guling, Nasi Goreng Merah, and two portions of Sate Babi, and everything was packed with flavor. The sate babi was juicy, tender, and perfectly caramelized with that sweet-smoky balance. The Nasi Babi Guling came with all the classic sides and spicy sambal that made every bite addictive, while the Nasi Goreng Merah was fragrant and full of that signature local taste. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and service was quick. A true Bali classic that’s absolutely worth the visit — I’ll definitely be back.
4 I had a meal at Sate Babi Bawah Pohon and ordered pork satay with lontong. Overall, I feel that ordering via GoFood/Gojek might be a better option than dining in. The waiting time was quite long, and the place was very crowded, so we had to wait and compete to find an available table. At that time, the waiting time for the satay to be served took up to around 45 minutes. In terms of taste, the satay was good and did not disappoint, as expected. I also noticed that the place seems to have been renovated recently. From what I remember, it used to look much more basic before. Now, the area has several small food stalls selling different kinds of food, although I’m not entirely sure whether these stalls already existed before or were added after the renovation.
5 We ordered 3 portions of meat, 2 portions of rice, 2 glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice, and 1 portion of vegetables, all very delicious. The grilled chicken skewers are probably a local specialty. The grilled pork was slightly sweet but very flavorful, and the roasted pork was crispy but a bit chewy; we weren't very impressed. Everyone should try it! The total was 180,000 Indonesian Rupiah, quite cheap.
5 This restaurant offers a great variety of Balinese pork dishes, from babi guling to sate babi, all at affordable prices. The pork satay is a must-try – it looks spicy but actually has a sweeter taste. Portions are on the smaller side, so the two of us ended up ordering four dishes, which was perfect for trying more options. A really good spot to enjoy local flavors without breaking the bank!
The pork satay (Sate Babi) and Nasi Babi Guling are favorites, known for their rich flavor and tender texture.
You can enjoy a casual sit-down meal here, but it also works well for a quick bite thanks to its efficient service.
The place can get busy, especially during lunch and dinner peak hours, so visiting earlier or later can help you avoid crowds.
Yes, the restaurant accommodates groups and families comfortably with spacious seating options.
There is table service, wheelchair-accessible seating, and a clean dining area with paid parking nearby for convenience.
